being needed

When this semester comes to a close, it will mark 6 years of homeschooling for me. I actually homeschooled a full year before I ever posted anything about it online. I wasn’t sure how it would all play out and I needed to figure it out for myself without encouragement or criticism from anyone else.

I still don’t have it figured out, but I’m having a good time with my kids, so I guess that counts for something! The older my kids get the more intense their studies are, which means more dedicated one-on-one time instead of all of us working as a group. It makes for long days for me, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It works for us, just like other schooling approaches work for others.

Every now and then I snap a picture or two of our mornings…

I can’t snap many because there is always someone needing my help… 🙂

{3rd grader doing math….when the teacher tells the class, “Everyone, please stop all saying my name at the same time. Be patient.”}

I miss blogging more often, but this is a different season of life and I am good with that.

Some days it is hard to be so needed.

Most days though – I crawl in bed exhausted and so very grateful for the privilege of being called “Mom” by 5 of the coolest people I know and being able to answer their calls when they say, “I need your help mom.”

We are raising them to be confident and independent, but I sure won’t mind if they always feel the freedom to ask for my help!
