sisters

It was incredible reading so many of your stories in the comment section yesterday. What an bunch of strong mommas so many of you are. Thanks for sharing your stories with me….

Sisters.

These two sure seem like they’ve been together far longer than 6 weeks.

Both girls got new blankets from Stay Sassy. Their blankets have their nicknames on them…but a certain big sister always sneaks in to cover her little sister up at naptime.

Little One is standing a lot. Her big sister is so anxious for her to start walking.

And they are off…

  • tobi - the two of them melt my heart. i especially love how little one ALWAYS has her blanket that you gave her from day one. that thing is going to see some serious lovin’ over the years. my daughter has a very well loved blanket. it doesnt resemble one now, but she still loves it. i imagine that one will be the same way one day.

  • Maggie - Melts my heart…Firecracker is such a good big sis πŸ™‚ God had and has such an incredible plan for Little One in your family. She fits in perfectly! Can’t wait to see how God continues to orchestrate all of it…

  • joy - what a wonderful relationship. big sis sure has a huge heart full of unconditional love.

  • Nina von Butterzart - They are a dream team like my daughters 16 month are between them. Enjoy this funny Ladies as much as you can.

    Nina

  • Sarah - I had a feeling your chalkboard wall would be a coralish-red! Goes so great with the cabinets! :o)

  • Leila - What a good big sister πŸ™‚ Isn’t it wonderful how siblings can take care of each other? For some reason people don’t really believe this nowadays — they stopped believing it round about when they stopped having lots of kids. But with all the fighting and bickering, our seven always took care of each other and were kind to each other.
I don’t even know if that makes sense. But that’s how it was and still is!

  • Lucy - I can’t tell you how much your adoption experience has touched me. It has also provided an opportunity to talk to my children about kids that may have different situations. My oldest daughter LOVES this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umdG-6aGQEc and is always looking for chances to show other people that she will be their friend. I just thought you and your kids might appreciate the song too πŸ™‚

  • debbie c - They are so blessed to have each other! I’ve always wanted a sister, I know so many sisters who have been best friends to each other, it’s like a built-in support system!

By the way, I love the red wall (is that the chalkboard paint?) with the aqua cabinets. The studio is looking great!

  • Sandy - Those two are certainly gonna “rock it” one day!!! So glad to see that your family is doing so well. I’m thankful that you have friends who are holding you through the tough stuff. You are such an inspiration!!

  • Ruth Abel - Your little girls melt my heart. The way Firecracker has embraced her new sister from before she even met her just blesses me so much. I love her expressions and excitement, and Little One’s nose is so cute when she smiles real big. Thanks for sharing their joy with us.

  • Jen - This just melts my heart and brings a huge smile to face today!

  • Stoich91 - Redonk adorbs!

  • Carol Paxman - Oh my gosh! I just love sisters, probably because I am one! Your blog is the first thing I read every morning, just to get a glimpse of that beautiful baby. I never comment but the look on little one’s face as she looked at her big sister was too much to resist. You are so blessed, thanks for sharing with us!
    Carol

  • Emily - That Sister bond is incredible, isn’t it? I always feel a little sad for the girls out there who don’t have sisters. How blessed your daughters are to have each other.

I didn’t post yesterday, but I did want to chime in and say that you have helped change the way I see clefts, too. I still see them as something that needs fixing, but they’re not longer quite so heart-breaking and jarring. Maybe you should make little business-style cards with links to your adoption/cleft story and hand them out to the people who stare or say mean things. People fear what they don’t understand and you have explained it all so beautifully…

Anyway, I just wanted to add that. I should comment more because your stories are the ones I look forward to reading the most right now. Thank you for sharing.

  • Paige - Oh I just love the bond these two share already! If anyone was wired to be a big sister, its Firecracker!

  • Sundee - What strikes me is how big Firecracker seems now with Little One home!! I don’t personally know you or your children, but it would seem that Firecracker grew up overnight since Little One came home = ) what an amazing transformation!!!

  • amanda - beautiful

  • susie - I look forward to your post the most too! I am lucky to have 8 sisters… i don’t need to make any other friends! We always tell my mom that was the best gift she could ever give to us!

  • Sophi Belle - They are so beautiful and TOO cute! πŸ™‚ Two little girls are always better than one, isn’t it? They already are best friends, and that is awesome. <3

What is the age difference between them? There is a three years and two months difference between my girls but they get along so well. OK, until they stubbornly want the same toy… πŸ™‚

  • Wendi - Those girls are amazing together. I love watching your family grow and noticing some similarities to my own. Praise God that she is thriving and getting so much TLC. Oh and I couldn’t help but notice your chalkboard wall! So cute!

  • Elizabete Saukas - They’re so beautiful πŸ™‚
May God keep blessing you and your family!

  • Rose - I can not help but think of Little One’s first year of life and her life now and how much a beautiful change it is. She is flourishing and it is so affirming to see and hear about the wonderful things she is doing and accomplishing each day. Also the gift you gave your own family by adopting her. Such a wonderful dance of growing and learning, loving and giving. r

  • Jeannine - Your girls are absolutely gorgeous! I’ve always been in awe of the bond that people can have with their brothers or sisters. As someone without any, it melts my heart and astounds me that someone can have such a huge role in your life and have that kind of bond that’ll last a lifetime πŸ™‚ Your kids are so lucky to have each other!
I can’t wait to give my little girl a sibling of her own someday.

  • Sarah - Her crinkly nose makes me smile <3

  • Amanda - Ditto, Sarah πŸ™‚

  • Kristin Eldridge - You inspire me. Thanks for blogging!

  • Trista - Your daughters are gorgeous.

  • Tracy a - Thanks for these posts. Somehow I missed yesterday’s, but as I read it now, I am so thankful for the vulnerability you share. We are all learning so much from you. Sao, no OBU in November for me, but a very special event is happening in Tulsa in December that I’ve got a flight for!! I am really hoping to make a house call to the Campbell’s while I’m down! Looking forward to it so much….

Love hearing about your day-to- day life with your boys and girls……and the pictures!!!!!…..ah..:-)… just lovely! You haven’t talked much about the future for Little One regarding her “treatment”.(And that’s fine)You see my sister Ellen works for an orthodontist who is one of the leading doctors in the country working with clef pallets. His name is Dr.Pedro E. Santiago DMD. You can find him at Duke Childrens Hospital Cleft Pallet Team. Please know I’m not “trying to put my nose in your business” but I just thought you might want to check them out (If you haven’t already :-)Blessings to you and your family!!
