So my friend Julie has been cracking me up with “Hey Girl” pictures of Ryan Gosling on her blog recently. I’ve showed them to Chris, laughing as I read them. He looked at me like I’m crazy. I don’t have a crush on Ryan…I do have a crush on Chris, but nonetheless they make me laugh…here’s one:

Julie sent me this yesterday:

In the midst of a lot of serious yesterday, she made me laugh at loud (so did a lot of you). Not in my wildest dreams would have I ever expected all your comments yesterday. I read them all. Each and every one. I’m speechless. Reading your words felt like I was reading notes written to someone else. Thank you.
Late in the afternoon I was playing hide-n-seek with the kids. I hid by the front door and noticed a package on the front steps…a very cutely wrapped package. The game stopped and the gift came inside…Star Wars sheet set and a vintage Wonder Woman costume. There was happiness abounding in our home.
If I had that mask a day sooner I could have really lightened up yesterday’s post with a photo.

Hands down the best noise on the planet in my book is the sound of my kids laughing together. Nothing beats the sound of it. Every muscle in my body relaxes, every toy strewn about disappears, every ‘to do’ isn’t so important…seriously, what did I do for entertainment before I had kids?

Thank you Steve Jobs for Mac Photobooth. It has provided my family years and years full of fun and laughter.
Laughter is good for the soul.
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!!! I’m working on a post for tomorrow, but I probably won’t be posting much next week. I’ll return to normal weekday posting in the new year…

amy - Don’t know if you’ve seen them yet, but since you guys seem to be as crazy about Wonder Woman as I am I had to pass this one… When we were in Toys R Us the other day we found a Lego set with Wonder Woman in it! She was in a set with Super Man and Lex Luther, which is a bit strange, but oh well- It’s still Wonder Woman! My Son used his Christmas money to buy the set and I keep trying to steal Wonder Woman to put on the shelf in my kitchen, but so far have not been successful 🙂
RachelC - I have been cracking up at those Ryan Gosling posts all week! There is a pinterest one that is hilarious!
keely - i love this post. it rings true to what happens around my home, too. when my boys laugh together, or (even better), get their baby sister laughing, nothing else in the world matters. it’s the sweetest, most blessed sound, for however long it lasts. 🙂
merry christmas, and thanks so much for continuing to share your heart.
Molly @ mixedmolly - so many funny things! Love the Ryan Gosling pics
Kezia - We love photo booth too – so much fun!
Kezia - We love photo booth too – so much fun:)
Bella - Thanks for giving me a laugh early this morning too, hope you have a fabulous weekend! 🙂
Jennifer - Hi Ashley-
I was going to comment yesterday, but ran out of time. When I read your post yesterday the first thought that popped into my head was that you shine the light of Christ brightly from the pages of your blog, and the Enemy will do anything in his power to stop you from shining. Keep your light on your hill in blogland shining brightly!
Angie B - Once again, you make me smile! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
Amanda - Thank you!!! Merry Christmas!
Lora - I don’t comment often and I have been out of the loop for a few days, but I LOVE your blog for all the reasons you blogged about yesterday AND today. I don’t have photo booth, but I can see my kids having such a blast with it, too…and You are SO right about the sound of children’s laughter making everything better. It’s the best sound in the world!
Sarah Pratt - Have a Very Merry Christmas!
Debbie C - Hee hee, Photobooth is hilarious. We were over at a cousin’s house a couple years ago for Christmas and he had it. Everyone took turns making ridiculous faces, it was lots of fun!
Andrea L. - Ashley, I just heard a song that I’ve heard a dozen times before but it made me think of you this time. Its called Merry Christmas by Third Day. Its about spending Christmas apart from a child who is waiting in China. Merry Christmas and God bless. I’ll keep your little one in China in my prayers.
Kesha Osmond - You make me want to be a better mom.
We go to the same church.
I live to create things.
I love photography.
My heart aches for the fatherless.
I want everyone to LOVE my Father as I do.
We are also adopting.
I have four kids + one far away.
I, one the other hand, don’t relax enuf. Its a challenge for me to see the enertainment of my kids. Unless, of course, I jot that down in my planner. I have to many things on my to-do list. And I stress out when hyper-focussing on a task is interupted with tattling or ruff-housing.
I enjoy your blog.
But I also read it because you make me want to be a better mom!
Lauren Ann - Ashley, I read your blog a lot through the newborn fog and am just now catching up. Please know your voice matters. Your stories are challenging, fun, & inspiring. You & your family matters, Your faith matters and most importantly your platform for the ones without a voice matters. We thank you for sharing. Hope you have a very merry christmas.
Andy - i love the hwy girl pics. i crack up at them as well. have you seen the one about the mason jar into a pendant lamp. hilarious.
kid laughter does rock. Merry Christmas
Jane Marie - Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard at that “Hey Girl” note from your friend. I wanted to comment yesterday but couldn’t think of the right words to express…I think it’s great that you do what you do, and are just downright honest, open, and awesome. You inspire many of us, as Moms and artists. 🙂
Meagan Tener - Those pictures are too funny! Photo booth is the best!!! It never gets old! Pretty much every time we use it, tears stream down my face from laughing so hard! I’m so sorry you were hurt by the careless comments of mean people. You are an amazing mom and person and you write an amazing and inspirational blog! You make us want to be better people by your example. You constantly remind us why we are here on Earth, to love and help others and to let God’s love and light shine through us every day in everything that we do! Keep doing what you do, girl, and know that you are loved and appreciated for it! 🙂
Kara M - OMG, that Ryan Gosling stuff is so funny! Where do people come up with this stuff…so hilarious.
Jacqueline - i literally laughed out loud! those pics are hilarious.. huge smile!
Colleen - I’m a long time lurker of this blog but your post from yesterday and today made me want to say something! and that something is THANKYOU! I hope you know your blog and voice are apreciated. They mean something! I’m a 21 year old girl and I look up to you tremendlously. You are truly a role model. I was taught we can either spend out time hating and judging or loving and (at least trying to be)understanding, and often time it’s the voices of those chosing to hate and judge that we place more emphisase on (why is it we do that?). I just wanted to say the love for you kids and the kids around the world who don’t have love shines through and is a constant reminder to me to spread my heart as far as I can. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou for putting your family and life on display, it has changed much in my life. 🙂
